About the project
Five actors wanted for Forty Fathoms, a 14-minute short film about a father and daughter struggling to keep their failing salvage boat afloat. During a routine expedition, they discover a shipwreck that doesn’t appear on any map. Records identify the vessel as lost at sea, with everyone aboard presumed dead. Among the names on the passenger list are their own.
Roles
- Paisley, Daughter — Lead · Female · 18-24 · $450 flat
Better on the water than her father and never says so. Paisley works best underplayed. Comfortable on boats a real advantage.
- Shanice, Rival Skipper — Supporting · Female · 38-52 · $375 flat
Not a villain — a better businesswoman with the same idea. One detail: two scenes on a dock that crackle.
- Kelsey, Diver — Supporting · Female · 21-29 · $375 flat
Kelsey, the diver. Hired for the job, stays for the argument. A one-day part. Comic, capable, loyal to nobody.
- Rafael, Harbor Master — Day Player · Male · 40-55 · $300 flat
Rafael, who holds the paperwork and enjoys it hugely, is the harbor master.
- Thomas, Father — Lead · Male · 52-66 · $450 flat
Proud, deeply in debt, and determined to keep his failing salvage business alive. He refuses to admit defeat, even when every decision seems to make things worse. Now, with little left to lose, he’s about to make one last bad decision, and he’s making it beautifully.
